GoalsI had three goals for the course. These goals were to post blogs, to set up an actual help desk, and to set up a way for backchanneling to occur. I only achieved one of three goals. I completed the goal to post blogs. I posted blogs on digital lifestyles, digital footprints, and other reflections. By writing and posting about these subjects my goal was fulfilled. The other two goals were not completely fulfilled. Regarding backchanneling, the students had access to the blogs but failed to post to them or write any comments on them. In the future, students should be aware that they are free to comment on blogs. My last goal also failed. We did not have the time and resources to create an actual help desk. Through the furniture project, this goal might be fulfilled in the future. Blog PostsMy two favorite posts this semester were my Grammarly app review and my ‘How to Format MLA in Google Docs’ tutorial Both of these posts were my favorite because I believed that students may have found these very useful. I worked on these from the point of view of a student that may need help. The blog post that I thought needed more work was ‘One ISTE Standard.’ This blog needs some improvement because it was not really thoroughly reflected. I could have added a few more things to it such as how the standard was going to affect my education in the long run. The FutureThe future holds great opportunities for this class. As technology keeps developing, the help desk has to be expanded. An assignment that needs to be done is Escape the Room. This is a great opportunity for the Help Desk to carry out project management in a more big scale event. This opportunity would also be a great event for students to explore features of technology. Some advice for the future students of the class would be to keep learning, have an open mind, and to be patient.

What Information About Your Democratic Group and Online Behavior Might Websites Collect About You?Online sites may collect one's information that may deal with one's demographics and online behavior. If you shop more online, then websites will try to produce ads related to the products you choose. On the other hand, websites or search results will be more likely to relate to your age group or race. This way advertisers can make an impression on online buyers and therefore acquire more money. Other information websites could collect is personal information such as an email address. What Are The Pro's and Con's Of Online Tracking and Targeting? The pro's include:
What Are Three Ways You Might Help Prevent Companies From Collecting Information About You Online That You May Not Want Them To Have?
One ISTE StandardThe tech class has standards that we have to accomplish. After all, it is a class. I feel like I have almost mastered the standard of Knowledge Constructor. This standard states that students should use various resources and tools in order to create ways in which to learn and obtain experience. Cristian Martinez and I have worked on editing our sites in order to make more improved blogs. #ShoutOUTCristain's Blog These past app reviews and tutorials, I have worked with many programs and tools. On the Grammarly App Review, I actually used Grammarly to edit that blog. I'm actually using Grammarly to edit this reflection. I try to use Revisify myself to enhance my vocabulary in my personal classes such as in AP Biology. I try to be the most accurate and precise when it comes to reviewing the apps. When I was working on my tutorials, I had to put myself in the shoes of people that, I thought, struggled to do changes to their Chromebooks. As I used Screencastify I tried to experience the problems a person who didn't know anything about Google has had. I hope viewers also gain knowledge of how to carry out changes on their Chromebooks.
So What Exactly Are My Goals? My goals are simple. The first goal is kind of already accomplished. We need to set up a blog for people to follow up on technology trends, tools, and how to fix their devices. We know how hard it is for you to have a horrible day and my of nowhere your Chromebook starts acting up. The objective of this goal is to make sure we benefit the users who are experiencing technical difficulties. Seek first to understand, then to be understood -Stephen R. Covey My second goal is to set up a help desk. We want to allow students and teachers to have an opportunity to visit the help desk. This way students and teachers will be able to have a one on one conversation with me or one of my classmates to try and solve their problem. What About Students' Opinions? My last goal is to set up backchannels. By doing this, we can improve our communication skills, customer service skills, and improve ways in which to help people.
To visit a more detailed version of my goals please click the link on the picture of the infographic at the begining of this blog The site is a tool used to make infographics on certain topics. It allows you to choose from a few templates and customize it to fit your needs. I liked it in the way that it was very open to a lot of graphs, charts, and ways to depict statistics and information. One negative thing about the site is that in order to obtain more themes and to download the infographic, we would have to upgrade it. |
